About
Hi, I'm Heather.
I have an active interest in clothing design and all other aspects of design and creativity. My particular passion is the creation of tailored garments. Tailoring requires accuracy and precision to produce a high-quality garment.
This is also true in the editing world, which I find aligns with my abilities to discover creative solutions while producing a high-quality finished product, the ultimate satisfaction!
The written word has also held a fascination for me, hence my excitement when learning a career could be realised working with words.
I believe good writing should be clear, engaging, and easy to trust. After completing my Diploma in Editing and Proofreading and Postgraduate diploma in Business Enterprise, I now help trades and services businesses refine their websites from my home in Christchurch.
HOW I WORK
Four things you can count on
Plain language, always
If I hand you a report full of marketing jargon, I've failed at the exact thing I'm claiming to be good at. Everything I write for you is written so you could hand it to anyone and they'd know what to do.
Honest, even when it's smaller
If you email me and what you actually need is a $200 proofread rather than a full audit, I'll tell you that. If your site is already working well, I'll tell you that too. I'd rather be useful once than oversell you once.
Your voice, not mine
The goal is never to make you sound like a copywriter. It's to make you sound like the best version of how you already talk about your work, the way you'd explain it standing in someone's kitchen, not the way you think a website is supposed to sound.
Diagnosis before treatment
I won't rewrite a page before understanding why it isn't working. Plenty of websites get redesigned when the real problem was three unclear sentences, an expensive way to solve a cheap problem.
